Aralihittu is a sweet dish prepared for naivedya during Maha Shivratri and Nagapanchami.
It's prepared using wheat.
Ingredients :
Wheat - 1 cup
Bengal gram - 2 tsp ( optional)
Clove - 2
Cardamom - 1
Poppy seeds - 1 tsp
Ghee - 2 tsp
Jaggery syrup - as required.
Rinse the wheat and let it dry.
Dry roast the wheat, add cardamom, cloves, poppy seeds at end and turn off the flame.
Powder the wheat into a fine powder.
You can add cashew, almonds, raisins frying in ghee.
Now mix the wheat powder with the hot jaggery syrup, ghee, cashew, dry coconut gratings etc.,
Can make it soft halwa like consistency or can be made like laadoo.
Can be kept for one or two days.
This dish made for naivedya during Shravana Somavara for Lord Shiva and during Solah Somavar vrat.
