Huralikai - Hesarukaalu palya

This one is simple & tasty dish.


Ingredients :

Beans chopped : 2 cups
Green gram : 1 cup ( soaked or boiled)
Carrot grated : 1/2 cup
Onion : 1 medium
Fresh coconut grated : 1/2 cup (can be varied)
Curry & Coriander leaves : few
Oil : 1 Tbsp
Hing : a pinch
Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp 
Lemon juice : to the taste (optional)
Chillies : 3 -4 green, & 2 -3 Red ones
Mustard , Jeera seeds for seasoning.
Salt : to the taste

ಮಸೊಪ್ಪು ~ Masoppu

 Masoppu saaru



Masoppu means Mashed/Maseda soppu, this sambhar is made of combination many greens like Amaranth/Danttu, Menthya, hulli soppu, Basale soppu/Malabar Spinach, Spinach,Dill/Sabasige soppu.
This is an incredible match with Ragi mudde. Goes well with rice too, if its made thick like curry can be had with chapathi.

Ingredients :

Toor Dal : 1/2 - 1 Cup
Greens : Mix of all the greens about 250 gms 
            ( Palak, Fenugreek, Dill, Danttu/Amaranth,Hulli)
Tomato : 1 - 2
Onion : 1
Garlic : 5 -6 cloves
Jeera : 1 tsp
Curry, Coriander leaves.
Green chilles : 4 - 5
Sambhar powder : 1/2 - 1 tsp

Sabasige Vade can be a nice evening snack with tea/coffee or in mornings in combo with idli.




Ingredients :

Bengal /Channa Dal : 1 Cup
Dill/Sabasige : 1 - 1/2 cups chopped
Onion : 2 medium
Garlic cloves : 5 -6
Ginger : 1 inch
Green chillies : 5 -6 (depends)
Jeera : 1/2 tsp
Rice flour : 1/2tsp

Bhaji made by ridge gourd gives a nice taste, one can try this when bored of regular type of bhaji .


Ingredients :

Ridge gourd/ Heerekai : 1 medium
Gram/Besan/chick pea flour : 1 cup
Ajwain/Carom seeds : few
Baking Soda : a pinch
Turmeric powder : a pinch
Salt : to the taste
Red chilli powder/ green chilli paste : 1 tsp/as per taste
Oil : Frying & 1 tsp hot oil to add to flour

Channa dal / Urad dal : 1/2 - 1  tsp
Curd : 1 bowl ( as per requirement)
Curry, coriander leaves : few
Oil : 1 tsp for seasoning
Salt : per taste
