Oil : 2 tbsp
Potatoes : 2 medium size
Onion : 1 - 2
Green chillies : 2 -3
Curry leaves : few
Urad dal : 1/2 tsp
Channa dal : 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves : 3 - 4 strands
Black pepper powder : 1/4 tsp
Hing : a pinch
Menthya Powder : 2 - 3 pinches
Turmeric powder : 1/4 tsp
Lemon Juice : 1 - 2 tsp
Method:
Wash potatoes thoroughly, cut them into slices or cubes as per your wish. Cut the onions in to slices preferably thin slices.
Take a kadai, add oil, when its hot add mustard seeds, jeera seeds, when it splutters, add channa dal, urad dal, fry them in medium flame until they turns golden brown, now add curry leaves, cut coriander leaves, chopped green chillies, add slices of onion, fry until onion gets cooked.
Add cut potatoes now, stir them for few minutes, keep it on low flame sprinkle salt & close the lid for few minutes but need to check & stir in between to avoid burning out/getting sticked to the bottom of vessel. No need to add water.
Now add hing, fenugreek/ Menthya powder, add turmeric powder,
saute for few secs, add black pepper powder. fry for few second, turn
off the flame, add lemon juice to your taste, garnish with coriander
leaves.
Serve hot.
Tastes good with chapati, Jolada roti, rice, pooris.

This
dish can be made with so many variations like one can add garam masala,
curd, milk & it shld be cooked until the oil leaves the sides of
the vessel to give a different taste.
