Baroda Palya ( Dal-Beans)
This dish is made using dal & beans. Dont know why it has the name Baroda palya.
Ingredients :
Toor Dal : 1 cup
Beans/Huralikai chopped : 1- 2 cups
Grated Fresh Coconut : 1/2 cup or more
Red chillies : 3 -4 (depends)
Jeera : 1/2 tsp
Salt : to the taste
For Seasoning :
Oil : 1 Tbsp
Mustard seeds :1/2 tsp
Urad, Chana dal : 1 tsp
Hing : a pinch
Method :
Wash & soak the toor dal for 3 hours.
Clean & chop the beans.
After soaking time, grind toor dal with red chillies, jeera & 2 tsp of coconut gratings. Grind to a coarse mixture, add small quantity of water if needed.
Now steam cook the ground mixture & chopped beans together in a cooker for two whistles.
Now take a kadai, add oil, when its hot add mustard seeds, when it splutters add chana dal, urad dal, fry until it turns golden brow, add curry leaves, hing to it.
Now add the steamed dal mixture, fry for few minutes.
Now add steamed beans, coconut & add salt , mix well altogether.
Serve with chapati/roti.
Tastes good with plain rice too.
