Sorekai Palya



Sorekai or Bottle gourd curry, I like this to make little spicy with gravy, so it matches well with chapati..


Ingredients:

Sorekai  : 1/2 kg
Onion : 2-3
Tomatoes : 1-2
Cinnamon : 1 inch
Cloves : 2
Poppy seeds : 2 tsp
Coriander powder or seeds : 1 tsp
Jeera : 1 tsp
Hurgadale : 2 tsp.
Green chillies : as per taste
Coriander, curry leaves few.

Method :
Peel off the bottle gourd, chop to small pieces.



Take a kadai, add oil, mustard seeds, when it splutters add onion, let it cook, then add chopped bottle gourd, add salt, keep on low flame, cover the lid.


For masala, fry onion, chillies, cinnamon, cloves, poopy seeds, jeera one by one, add chopped tomatoes, curry leaves, let tomatoes get cooked, now add dry coconut or fresh coconut gratings and switch off. When its cooled down ground it to paste





Now add the paste to the bottle gourd, fry it for  a while then add sufficient water to cook it .




Serve hot with chapati or poori..


It's recommended to have this vegetable in raw form as it promotes weight lose :) can be had in jucie form with some add ons like mint, lemon, honey etc ., As it's rich in vitamins , works as a nice antioxidant..
