ಹೀರೆಕಾಯಿ-ಬೇಳೆ ಪಲ್ಯ ~ Ridge Gourd-Dal Dish

Ridge Gourd - Dal Palya

This is simple yet tasty recipe.

Ingredients :

Ridge gourd : 2 cups (peeled & chopped)
Toor Dal : 1 or 1/2 cup 
Onion : 1 small
Green chillies : 2 -4 
Jeera : 1/2 spoon
Curry leaves
Oil : 1tsp

Method :

Wash & peel the veins of ridge gourd, chop in to pieces, chop the onion.
Wash & soak toor dal for 1bout 15 mins or it can be added without soaking also.
Now take a vessel add oil, add mustard seeds when oil gets hot, add onion, ridge gourd, toor dal, jeera, salt to the taste, curry leaves, all together.

Add sufficient water, let it cook until dal gets softened .

Serve with chapati / Roti.

In this method its needed to add all the ingredients together, no need to fry onion before adding vegetables as usual we do in preparing other type of side dishes/palya, so less oil is required.
