Tomato Kayi Chutney
This is an simple & tasty chutney recipe to have with Roti or chapati, dosa too. As unripe tomatoes are sour, so it gives a different tangy taste when jaggery, chillies are added.
Green/UnripeTomatos : 4 -5 medium sized
Green/Red chillies : 4 -5 (depends)
Garlic cloves : 3 - 4
Jaggery : to the taste
Uchellu pudi : 1-2 tsp
Jeera : 1/2 tsp
Curry, Coriander leaves : few
Salt : to the taste
Oil : 1 tsp
Turmeric powder : 1 pinch
Hing : 1 pinch while seasoning
Mustard seeds : 2 pinchs
Wash & cut the tomatoes into pieces,.
Take a kadai, add chopped tomatoes, fry for a while, then add 1tsp of oil, fry it until the moisture content vanishes.
Add chillies, garlic cloves, jeera. Fry all together for few minutes.
Add curry leaves, jaggery, Uchellu pudi.
Add turmeric powder, salt.
Let it cool to the room temperature.
Blend it to coarse form in a mixer.
Tastes good with ghee while having with rotti or chapati.
