ಹೆಸರುಕಾಳು ಸಾರು ~ Hesarukaalu saaru
This saaru is simple one & makes good combo with rice.
Green gram : 1 - 2 cup.
Garlic cloves : 4 - 5
Corinder, curry leaves : few
Jeera : 1 tsp
Grated coconut fresh : 1 - 2 tsp (optional
Tamarind juice : to the taste
Jaggery : 1/2 tsp
salt : to the taste
Rasam powder : 1- 2 tsp
Oil :1 - 2 tsp
Red chilli powder/ Red chillies : 1/2 tsp (optional)
Pressure cook the green gram with 2 pinches of jeera after washing it thoroughly.
Take a vessel add 1 tsp of oil. add mustard & jeera when they splutters add crushed garlic. curry leaves.
Now add chilli powder & rasam powder, add tamarind juice, jaggery, salt, add the cooked green gram, add water,coconut gratings (if available), bring it to boil.
Add chopped coriander leaves.
Serve hot with Rice & ghee.
Goes well with chapati palya as another side dish.
If you dont have rasam powder or saaru pudi, you can add 1/2 tsp black pepper powder, 1/2 tsp jeera powder, a 2 pinches of menthya powder.
