ಹೀರೇಕಾಯಿ ಭಜಿ ~ Ridge Gourd Bhaji

Ridge gourd bhaji  ~ ಹೀರೇಕಾಯಿ ಭಜಿ
Bhaji made by ridge gourd gives a nice taste, one can try this when bored of regular type of bhaji .


Ingredients :

Ridge gourd/ Heerekai : 1 medium
Gram/Besan/chick pea flour : 1 cup
Ajwain/Carom seeds : few
Baking Soda : a pinch
Turmeric powder : a pinch
Salt : to the taste
Red chilli powder/ green chilli paste : 1 tsp/as per taste
Oil : Frying & 1 tsp hot oil to add to flour


Method :

Wash & peel the gourd.
Cut into round medium slices, sprinkle salt on the slices & keep it aside.

 
Take a bowl add 1 tsp of oil, heat the oil, add gram flour, leave until the oil gets cooled.
Now add red chilli powder, turmeric, baking soda, carom seeds, salt
Add enough water to mix the ingredients well, make a batter of medium consistency, not too thin or thick, the batter should get stick to slices of gourd.




Take a kadai, add oil to fry.
Now dip the slices in the batter.
drop one by one into the oil.


 
Deep fry until they turn brown. 

Serve hot
