Simple Onion Palya ~ ಸರಳವಾದ ಈರುಳ್ಳಿ ಪಲ್ಯ
This is an simple recipe to make a delicious curry when you are in hurry, I feel these two Onion & Potatoes are good friends of a cook, as when there is no vegetables, one can prepare nice dishes with help of these. A friend in need is a friend indeed :)
Onion : 2
Red chilli powder : 2 - 3 depends
Green chillies : 2 -3 or 1 tsp chilli paste
Turmeric powder : 2 -3 pinches , if u use green chillies.
Hurkadale/Puttani hitt/Roasted gram flour : 1 - 2 tsp
Oil : 2 Tbsp
Curry & coriander leaves : few
Mustard seeds : for seasoning
Chop onions into small pieces or slices.
Take a kadai, add oil, mustard seeds, when mustard seeds splutters add onion, curry leaves.
Fry until onion looks transparent/ brownish.
Now add salt, red chilli powder fry for few seconds, til you get nice aroma of red chilli powder getting fried.
Now add roasted gram flour, fry few seconds, add water.
Bring it to boil until the whole curry starts to get thick & it starts to leave oil on sides. garnish with coriander leaves.
Can be served with Dosa or Chapathi.
I prefer this with instant dosa.
By adding water curry can be made more thin as shown in the pic below.
If you want this to be made more spicy, tangy, add tamarind juice/ curd, jaggery, garam masala to the taste.
